Better security, increased manageability and improved flexibility are why more and more companies are turning to this technology. It is easier for companies to enforce security policies, push out patches, and manage their PC users, with this type of system. It is possible to save money by handling upgrades in software and hardware this way, as well. One benefit many users seem to enjoy is the ability to run multiple operating systems from their desktop. They can also have access to any desktop or device hosted on the system. This can give them access to equipment or software they would not otherwise have access to in a desktop PC environment. Because all the equipment in the system runs off the host, security is improved. There is only one entry point to the system, and this is easier to protect than having each PC be its own entry point into your system. Costs for the service can vary, depending on the number of virtual desktops being used, the amount of space on the server, and the applications being run. Still, the overall cost is considerably less than having to buy or lease, maintain, and supply software and upgrades for individual PCs. The technology is still new and in its growth stage. Developments will be coming rapidly in the coming months and years. This is a technology that you won’t want to miss, as it affords you higher security, greater flexibility, and more control, at a reasonable cost.
